Scarlett Edwards
Hey all,
Like I said in my last post, I finished Be Mine. Just waiting to get it back from final edits at this point. It'll be out in the next few weeks. I'm gunning for September 15th, but it might be sooner than that. I'll post an update as soon as I know. Time to work on the cover now. I've been looking for the right images all day. (For those who don't know, I make my own covers. Design is a nice change of pace from writing.) As soon as I finish, I'll put it up. The description comes last of all. I usually do it right as I'm about to publish. But who knows, maybe I'll get it done earlier and give you a sneak peak. We will see...

I hate proofreading. [explanation] See that above? That was going to list the reasons why. But I am too exhausted to even think about writing it at this point. I've been staring at the same manuscript for the past four weeks. It'd be all right if it were something new and fresh, but this manuscript happens to be one that I wrote. That means nothing I find in it surprises me. There is no enjoyment of the character arcs, no anticipation of the climax, no mystery or sense of wonder behind the words. I'm the one who wrote them, after all. Ask any writer anywhere. Proofing is the worst part of the job. It's a struggle. But what make it worthwhile is knowing that the work I put in now will pay off in the future, when feedback starts pouring in from the readers. You guys make the struggle worth, well, struggling for. (Ouch. That last bit is cringe-worthy. And I call myself an author..) ...That's my little rant for the day. Feels kind of good to get it off my chest. The important thing, for anybody reading this, is that Be Mine is now in its final stages. It will be published as soon as I get it back from my editor and make the changes she suggests. Shouldn't be more than a few weeks. (Huge shout-out to Gail Lennon for putting up with all my crap, by the way.) I'm playing around some more with my site today. Got most of the pages up and running and looking how I want them.
A few writing-related updates for everyone:
And a reminder to myself: Alt+0151 gives the em dash. Like so: -- Fact: My old website was ugly.
Fact: I've been meaning to make a new one for a long time. Fact: I'm a major procrastinator. A "long time" means more than half a year. But finally, it's done. I put my nose to the grindstone and worked on it all day. 12+ hours later, you have this. Is it amazing? No. But it's passable, and slightly less ugly. And anyway, I'm an author. Not a web-dev chick. Besides, if you're reading this, you're here to find out about my books. Another fact. Aaaaand, I'm not going to disappoint. The other big news of the day: I finished my new book. I think I'm going to call it, Be Mine. But don't hold me to that. I'll have more information for you soon. Watch for the cover and description in the next two weeks. The book releases in September! |
